Loving-Kindness Meditation Series (Introductory + All Levels Welcome)
Join interdisciplinary artist and meditation teacher Tara Rook for an introductory meditation series centered on the practice of loving-kindness. This series is ideal for beginners as well as experienced meditators who wish to deepen and strengthen their heart-based practice.
Together, we will explore the qualities of friendliness—first toward ourselves, and gradually extending outward to others and the wider world. Through a variety of meditation techniques, including Metta (loving-kindness phrases and rhythmic affirmations) and Tonglen (the practice of sending and receiving), participants will learn how compassion naturally arises when the heart is gently trained. These practices support emotional resilience, soften difficult feelings, and cultivate a steady, open presence.
Why practice loving-kindness meditation?
Loving-kindness meditation is known to reduce stress, build emotional awareness, strengthen empathy, and foster a deeper sense of connection—to oneself and to others. Over time, it can help shift habitual patterns of self-criticism into ones of care, patience, and understanding.
