Join DHARMA FRIENDS for an extra colorful and commemorative evening!  

Our fall gathering places Vajrayana Buddhism in dialogue with psychedelic experience and culture. The evening opens a scholarly review about the possible use of plant-based psychedelics in ancient Buddhism with Professor Doc Kelley, followed by a lively conversation with Dr. David Kittay, Doc Kelley, and DHARMA FRIENDS teachers Megan Mook and Kevin Townely.  

Throughout the evening, we'll share captivating stories and memories of Dr. Robert Thruman who overlapped with Timothy Leary at Harvard.  

The night concludes with a meditation and meditative music by the viola ensemble 2VLA.

GUEST PRESENTERS

Dr. David Komodo Kittay teaches philosophy, religion, and technology at Columbia University, where his courses are called “life-changing,” and translates exoteric and esoteric Buddhist texts. He also founded and teaches Philosophy at the Harlem Clemente Course for the Humanities. He is a Tibet House Board member and Chair of the THUS Executive Committee.



Doc Kelley is the co-founder and Director of Operations at Psychedelic Sangha LLC. He is also a Buddhist scholar-practitioner who teaches in the Religious Studies Program at Eugene Lang College of Liberal Arts at The New School in New York City. Doc holds a Ph.D. and M.A. in Religion (Buddhist Studies) from Columbia University, where he studied under Dr. Robert Thurman. His academic and teaching expertise spans Tibetan Buddhism, Buddhist ethics, and experimental mysticism.
