At age three, he was recognized as the 6th incarnation of the abbot of Jhado Monastery. He received his monastic vows from His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama and Ling Rinpoche. He completed his wisdom education at Sera Je Monastery and his yogic proficiency as Vajra master at Gyuto Tantric University. He served the Dalai Lama as abbot of Namgyal Monastery from 1991-1997. He received many transmissions from His Holiness the Dalai Lama and other great masters. In the last number of Kalachakra Grand Initiations done by His Holiness, close to His Holiness’ side, he assisted in the many self-initiatory preparation rites the Vajra Master of such a cosmic ceremony has to undertake. He has given the initiation himself numerous times, in India, the Mongolias, Europe, Australia, and New Zealand. He continues to teach globally, and at Nalanda Monastery in USA .
