Himalayan Dreams - Tales of Lhasa Newar Traders recounts the century old trade relationship and the deep connections between Nepal and Tibet from the voices of the traders and their surviving family members. The film is a unique historical story of the lives of of Newar traders, the cultural and religious connections, the loves lost and their continuing relevance in the 21st century.
The film runs for 45 mins, after which there will be a Q&A with the filmmaker.
BIO
Tenzing Jigme is a first-time film maker based in Ottawa, Canada. He was inspired to make the film to capture his late father's wish, who wanted to capture the historic linkage between Nepal and Tibet and the peoples lives straddled across borders, society, and politics. Tenzing completed his Masters in Public and International Affairs from York University. He an active member of the small Ottawa Tibetan community and works in the public sector. Instagram- @tenzings
