In the Tibetan Buddhist tradition, the 49 days following the passing of a great practitioner are regarded as a deeply meaningful and sacred period. The Tsog will be held on the first day of the fourth week (Day 22 to 28), and is an incredibly pivotal time. It is the exact midpoint of the 49-day Bardo (intermediate state). During this specific week, the deceased's consciousness undergoes a major energetic shift and begins actively searching for its next karmic rebirth.

The "Bardo of Becoming" (Sidpa Bardo): Following the first three weeks of encountering peaceful and wrathful deities, this fourth week drops the deceased into the Bardo of Becoming. In this phase, they can experience strong illusions and psychological turbulence as they are pulled toward various realms of existence. By the fourth week, the consciousness has fully recognized its separation from the physical body and begins to encounter the imprints of past actions, entering a highly sensitive and reactive state in which the focused prayers and intentions of loved ones can offer meaningful support and guidance.
