This program will focus on compassion-based meditation, nurturing altruistic intention and the awakening of the heart.
In the Buddhist tradition, compassion is considered one of the essential qualities of awakening, transforming both how we relate to suffering and how we relate to others. Through meditation practices that cultivate loving-kindness and compassion, participants will learn methods for opening the heart, deepening empathy, and bringing greater warmth and presence into daily life.
An introductory lecture on Friday evening will be followed by instruction and practice on Saturday.
On July 10–11, H.E. Gegye Yongyal Tulku Rinpoche is teaching another program at Tibet House, The Nine Stages of Shamatha (Calm-Abiding) Meditation. While these two programs are designed to complement one another, they may also be attended independently.
