Green Tara, 18th century painting tangka (religious painting) represents the benevolent bodhisattva Green Tara. She holds the stems of lotus petals in each hand and wears a multi-colored dhoti and a flowing orange scarf. Tara, whose name means "star" or "she who ferries across,"is one of the most popular female Bodhisattvas. The Green Tara represents compassion in action.
