Lung-ta or the Wind Horse is a mythical animal from pre-Buddhist Tibet that carried prayers from earth to heaven with the speed of the wind and the strength of the horse. The flags contain sacred texts & symbols, which is believed to be carried by the wind as good fortune  & blessings to all beings and just not the individual who hangs them.

The five colors of the flags are symbolic and they are always displayed in the same order.
